　　春秋时代，吴越争霸不已，吴王夫差（白彪）为报杀祖之仇，出兵攻越，越大败，范蠡（潘志文）说服勾践（罗石青）投诚于吴，赴吴为奴。勾践在吴受尽百般凌辱，最后，范用计令夫差摒除戒心，放勾践及夫人（斑斑）回国。
　　勾践回国后，立志发奋图强，卧薪尝胆，并采用范蠡及文仲（熊德诚）之计谋，实行十年生 聚，十年教训。范蠡于宁萝村，邂逅西施（黎燕珊），范觉西施为人冰雪聪明，且美貌非凡，二人渐生情愫，且暗定白头，。但范为了国家，对西施晓以大义，决定牺牲二人之爱情，送西施赴吴侍奉夫差，西施亦深明大义，含泪答允，西施与另一美女郑旦（徐宝凤）赴吴后，肩负起迷惑夫差之任务。
　　夫差赴黄池大会之时，范认为时机已成熟，出兵攻吴，吴军大败，夫差逃回姑苏台，欲先杀西施，幸范赶至，夫差知大势已去，因常见无面目见先祖，求西施以罗帕裹面，夫差自刎。
　　越夫人巩西施乃不祥人，欲沉西施于太湖，而西施以负夫差太多，亦想一死谢之，终自沉太湖，范悲恸非常，最后感等君如待虎，终亦辞官，归隐田园。

　　故事讲述20世纪40年代，芭芭拉皇后号从巴西里约热内卢启航，船上乘客各个怀有目的，且有着不为人知的秘密。惊涛中暗藏未知与危险，无人能置身事外。
