　　Plot of the series:
　　In the series “Catherine Season 4 Favorites,” the reign of the Great Empress of Russia, Catherine Alekseevna II, continues. The events take place in 1779, when the queen has been on the throne for seventeen years and has reached the peak of her greatness. Her fame spread not only to neighboring countries, but throughout Europe. Such a nickname as “Great” was assigned to her by the high society of Europe, thanks to the efforts of the influential Princess Dashkova, who was always devoted to Catherine II.
　　Upon returning from abroad, Catherine II is helped by the ruler’s main associate, Ekaterina Romanovna Dashkova. Meanwhile, her husband mentioned in the series, Prince Grigory Alexandrovich Potemkin, remaining in second place in the State, is no longer her favorite. New favorites appear one after another, but they are all under the close supervision of Potemkin. None of the new favorites can maintain their position for long. Catherine plays at love, exalting herself to the point that no man deserves her true love. However, the heart does not obey the mind.

　　翠竹镇上有孟丽君（叶璇 饰），喜爱女扮男装出外求学淘气，才智过人天性聪慧的她是大夫孟士元的掌上明珠。机缘巧合下，男装打扮的她认识了同是乔装打扮的皇上铁穆耳（马德钟 饰）和憨直少年皇甫少华（林峰 饰）。孟丽君常听见暗夜笛声，早对吹笛人芳心暗许。家中早已安排好丽君与少华的婚事，怎奈由于彼此隐瞒的关系，丽君并不知道少华就是自己结拜的二哥，同时又误以为吹笛人就是铁穆耳，以致情根错钟。拒绝盲婚哑嫁的她带着丫鬟离家出走。
　　丽君四处闯荡之际被山上的劫匪劫走，随后发现皇甫少华也被劫来，此时方知道这就是自己的未婚夫，大为惊讶！然而在相处中，渐渐得悉皇甫少华的好处。
　　少华告知丽君，自她走后，恶霸一方的刘家抢亲逼婚，丫环映雪代丽君出嫁，在新婚之夜跳河自尽，而孟老爷也被诬蔑成朝廷钦犯，押解上京。
　　丽君开始了，漫漫的上京路。救父亲，找仇人。前路上等待的，除了劫难，还有幸福。

　　云与艳本来一生一旦，是粤剧界非常合拍的好拍档，但後来却因故反目，成为一对冤家。云因为嫁了富家子而息影，之後二人断绝来往；而红则因生活需要，依然做正印花旦。电视台想找云与艳一起做慈视义演，终令二人再走在一起。艳与夫关系恶劣，令她与女儿蚊关系亦紧张，女儿怪母亲不肯认父亲，令艳十分难为。而艳本身亦与一警察志交往，感情甚佳。蚊爱上了一花花公子，对方却不想与她长久在一起，终於将她抛弃，令她伤心不已。後来志被人杀死，云被情人所害沦为被告顶罪，云若要无罪获释，必须得艳之口供帮助，最後云无罪释放，并与艳和好如初。

　　22年前的朱莎娇（薛家燕 饰）是澳门某夜总会的台柱，与港大学生祝展辉相遇后发生了一段情不久便怀孕了，无奈展辉要远赴纽约进修，朱莎娇诞下了女儿祝君好（佘诗曼 饰），此后独自抚养。娇的金兰姐妹文贵芳因不堪男友的抛弃的打击，逼儿子文初（张智霖 饰）喝下了腐蚀性液体，幸好及时发 现才救回了文初的生命，但文初从此变成了哑巴，娇可怜文初，便收养了他。

　　礼信非常关心文初是否能医治声带，想尽办法帮忙寻找医生。文初再次遇到了生母，但是在母子相认之后，生母却选择了给文初假地址再次离开。这时，文初与礼信都发现了自己爱上了君好，文初希望君好得到幸福而主动退出了三角关系。文初得到了礼信介绍医生的治疗下能恢复说话的能力后继续与娇生活。而娇为了君好的前程，故意一反常态，希望君好能离开自己……
