　　以1700年代的真实历史事件“水资源私有化”为题材，讲述了王世子与霸占朝鲜八道水资源的强权势力斗争抗衡的故事，是一部融合了政治与爱情元素的历史剧。俞承豪他将在剧中扮演正义果敢，与恶势力对抗的世子李煊；金所炫扮演的是因为父亲的死向世子复仇，却在不知不觉中与世子相爱的聪明少女韩佳恩。

　　故事开端，程家俊﹝万梓良﹞乃一建筑公司工程师，因工作关系与太子爷江世文结怨，连累女友孙洁明﹝麦翠娴﹞被害，俊报复导致文入狱。文含恨在心买凶杀俊，却误杀其母，俊与控官叶晓琳﹝陈敏儿﹞合力指控文失败，文获释，却遭程家勇﹝林嘉华﹞所枪杀。 　　俊转投警界，与莫兆康﹝吕良伟﹞结成知交，及后康为取得家产变得不择手段，误杀岑碧舒﹝陈美琪﹞，……

　　故事发生在民国时期。因报林家救命之恩，开钱庄的白老太爷（雷恪生 饰）被迫答应十五岁独子白子义（魏韩 饰）娶长他八岁的林家长女林燕娇（马晓静 饰）为妻，殊不知这是林老太爷（英达 饰）为将来侵吞白家财产所设的局。林燕娇（王丽云 饰）嫁入白家十几年未曾生育，她自做主张将亲戚余梅兰塞给王子义（田小洁 饰）做偏房，一年后余氏生下一女，林燕娇狸猫换太子将其换成男孩，取名旺儿，并将其弟林望兴（荆洁 饰）安插在白家钱庄做事，打压为白家默默做事一辈子的李掌柜（郭勇 饰），妄图夺取白家全部财产。为巩固在白家的地位，林燕娇可谓不择手段，她利用陪嫁丫头香菱（虞梦 饰），对白子义娶进家门的姨太太们施展了穷尽的本领……
