　　从1993年开始TVB兴起了一股翻拍金庸剧的潮流，随之而来的是正剧之外的前传或外传类的杜撰金庸剧的轮番出场，射雕出了九阴真经，南帝北丐，中神通王重阳，倚天则出了这部金毛狮王和后来96年的武当张三丰。
　　金毛狮王一定程度上丰富了倚天中明教这条线的情节，谢逊和成昆如何从师徒变为仇敌，阳顶天和成昆怎么会从莫逆之交变成一对死敌，杨逍殷天正等人如何成为一代大侠，这些都是该剧吸引大家眼球的资本所在。
　　当然该剧的硬伤也不少，和其他“杜撰金庸剧”一样，部分情节捏造的有些与原著无法联系，但整体上对于喜欢金庸剧的朋友来说这还算是一道不错的小菜。

　　Plot of the series:
　　In the series “Catherine Season 4 Favorites,” the reign of the Great Empress of Russia, Catherine Alekseevna II, continues. 　　该剧由Carell夫妇（《爆笑办公室》主演兼执行制片人Steve Carell和他的妻子Nancy）担任执行制片人，因此TBS非常爽快地买下了这个项目。该剧用讽刺的手法描述洛杉矶警署精英团队「令人发指的犯罪案件调查组」（Really Heinous Crimes Uni t）的故事——当这些聪明的警察团结一致追踪穷凶极恶的罪犯时，他们曝光了太多的私人信息。无论如何，不伸张正义他们决不罢休。有人说他们是一群「反直觉」的人，但这并不准确，事实上……他们根本没有直觉。
